Lockdown has moved me on. Too long a story, but I will say after caring for my husband with Alzheimer’s until his death 30 months ago, and other difficult things that included the loss of my previous studio, I’ve spent some of the time writing while at the same time just looking at the paintings started some time ago. Perhaps it’s been the quiet that has helped. I could probably write an essay on what might have contributed to me finally coming out of the darker space in which I’ve been. Instead I’ve painted. To me the layers in the painting are like a geology of the time through which the painting has passed. This is the first painting finished of eight paintings in a series, the others are still in progress.
