Dora Neill - ‘Movement & Expression’

The theme I chose for my coursework was movement and expression, focusing specifically on figurative pieces and portraiture. I decided to do this, because I felt that movement and expression work well together, as well as individually, and I love to paint and draw people.

My favourite pieces to create were those I did using ink, because it was a new medium for me and I really enjoyed using it. I learned a lot from doing my coursework, including time-management, persistence and what gives me most enjoyment to create.

I love art, because it is a way to escape from every-day life. When you are drawing or painting, you are completely focused and nothing else matters. Having a creative outlet is really important for me.

Now that A levels are over, I am taking a gap year to focus on improving life and study skills before university and (hopefully) travel. Next year I will be starting an English and History of Art degree at the University of Birmingham.
