[Focus] on Photography Competition Promises a Celebration of Creativity
Launching for the first time in February 2020, [Focus] on Photography celebrates emerging and established photographers from all over the region. From over 150 entries the standard of work entered was high across all ranges of experience and ability. The exhibition will feature the winning lens-based work, demonstrating the spectrum of photographic practices today; from the experimental to the documentary.
The judges include Kay Reeve - Royal Photographic Society fellow, Donald Maclellan - renowned portrait photographer (regularly features in newspapers, magazines and National Portrait Gallery), John Griff - BBC Radio Presenter, Roddy Lloyd-Jones - Chenderit School Deputy Head and Photography teacher and Matt Jeacock - Oxfordshire photographer.
Judge John Griff said, “I've been delighted and challenged by the quality of the work you see at this exhibition here today. My congratulations to all who submitted pictures for consideration and to those whose work is on display. If you're an exhibition visitor this time, maybe you'll be an exhibited artist next time...”
Showcasing a range of approaches, ability and creativity the winning photographers will receive money prizes and other awards at a special preview session on Saturday 29th February 12pm–2pm.
[Focus] on Photography was launched by The Heseltine Gallery to identify and champion under-recognised or emerging UK-based photographers. It continues a tradition of programmes to support practitioners and confirms an ongoing commitment to give a range of creative work a public platform.
