Portraiture remains one of the most intriguing genres of art and throughout time, portraiture has changed, developed and adapted, reflecting changes in society, cultural normalities and advances in technology. I wanted to explore how art has changed and how it has become more inclusive. Art, and portraiture, reflects the world we live in, helping us understand alternative viewpoints and allowing us to empathise with strangers and with other human beings who we might never have the chance to meet. I hope to aid art on its course of inclusivity and spread awareness, celebrating the diversity within our community within my own work as well as reflecting current world events, recording history as it happens.
I believe that the most effective pieces of art are heavily influenced by size and realism. I particularly love Arinze Stanley who focuses on hyper-realism within his pieces to provoke emotion within the viewer and help spread awareness for various causes within his community, such as end SARS. My favourite thing about art is its ability to influence a viewer’s perception of an image and being able to use this to inspire an audience.
After A levels I am going to study Business Management and Marketing at university. I hope to continue drawing and possibly painting in the future.
