Rani: “This is a portrait of my partner Ralph Wilkin. I wanted to give him something for his birthday but didn’t want to buy anything online which during lockdown is the main way we’re all shopping at the moment. I am currently exploring abstract painting and so this was a complete departure from the way I usually work. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out but I enjoyed the process and learnt a lot about skin tones and colours. Lockdown has had varying degrees of ups and downs for me but when I’m creating I can get lost in the process.”
